The Festival acadien de Caraquet, which celebrates its 55th anniversary in 2017, is the top Acadian cultural events of the year and one of the largest tourist attractions in the Atlantic provinces. Festival-goers converge by the thousands in Caraquet to celebrate the vitality of Acadian culture. It has even become one of the American Bus Association’s Top 100 Events in North America about 15 times!
During the 2 weeks of the festival, approximately 400 artists grace the stage to perform a variety of acts to the 100,000 people in attendance. Cabaret shows, pop music, classical sounds, and jazz nights, main-stage concerts, and madcap parties are just a taste of the festivities! Discover the emerging artists series, the Acadian poetry festival, the Gala de la chanson (Caraquet song gala), and popular and traditional activities such as fireworks and the blessing of the fleet. Experience the Tintamarre Workshops, where you can create a costume, mask, hat, or other carnival accessory to help you celebrate on August 15 at the renowned Tintamarre noisemaking parade, the largest (and loudest!) popular gathering in Acadie!
Each year from August 1 to 15, the Festival acadien de Caraquet becomes the showcase for Acadian culture, a culture open to international Francophonie. Come be part of the biggest musical celebration in Acadie!
