    Covered Bridge Potato Chip Company
    The Covered Bridge Potato Chip Company is producing kettle-cooked chips according to their family tradition, one at a time, to ensure the best flavour and texture. Their factory, based in Hartland, is open for public tours. And while you’re there, stop by the World’s Longest Covered Bridge from which the company takes its name.

    Fredericton Named a Leader in National Climate Protection
    The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) has named the City of Fredericton a national leader in the Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) program. PCP is a partnership between FCM and ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability. Fredericton is one of only four Canadian cities to achieve the highest level of program requirements for greenhouse gas measurement and reduction in municipal operations. Whistler, BC and Edmonton and Calgary, AB are the nation’s other three leaders. 


    Copper in Architecture Awards
    The Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in Fredericton recently received a North American Copper in Architecture Award (www.copper.org) for the restoration of the dome in copper. The 41-metre wide dome is a prominent feature of the original building designed by architect J.C. Dumaresq.

    Fall Festivals

    Fall is in the air and communities throughout the province are planning festivities to celebrate the harvest season. The Kedgwick Fall Festival is a traditional favourite because the surrounding mountains are home to a high number of sugar maples… just so you’ll know, these are the ones that turn the most brilliant red!


    New Brunswick Farm Day
    Exciting things are happening on New Brunswick farms. Sunday, September 20, 2009 is Open Farm Day. Come rain or shine, select farms will open their gates for public visits. Farmers Feed Communities, so why not involve the whole family in Open Farm Day and learn more about our food and our farms.


    Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival
    The 2009 Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival features a schedule brimming with top international and national acts. Tickets for most shows, from September 15 to 20, 2009, are still available despite very strong early sales. Tickets and passes can be purchased online at www.harvestjazzandblues.com, toll-free at 1-888-NB BLUES and in the Festival retail store at 81 Regent Street in Fredericton.

    New Brunswick Blueberries make a fine wine
    Along the sloping Bouctouche dunes, on the Northumberland Strait, La Ferme Maury in St-Edouard-de-Kent is the future of the New Brunswick's blueberry industry. The small vineyard makes a dry blueberry wine called Coeur d'Acadie - one of the many emerging value-added blueberry products that promise to help propel the wild crop to the top of the province's agriculture industry.
